Yes I remember the security and the frisking. Scared the crap out of me. I had gone to the Hollywood Bowl show in 74 and it was an outdoor pharmaceutical free-for-all. Somehow I thought we had turned the corner on enforcement. Boy was I wrong. We all thought the Dead would never come back to LA again. I was on the floor - don't recall Mr. Woop Woop at all. Then again, there's lots I've forgotten over the past 35+ years. Oh, and I missed the 2/26/77 show. At that time I was busily riding a bike around Maui and learning about magic mushrooms. :)

The next time did play LA proper agin at the Shrine in early 78 , but mostly they stayed out of the "city" , playing UCLA, Inglewood, Long Beach etc.
Not tile the 90's did they play much in the actual city .
We were up in the back of the balcony, still sounded pretty good , nice to hear the band in an actual hall designed for music .

It was the last time I saw them in a 'nice' place. I never went back to the Shrine. In 78 I was in the Bay area and ensconced on the floor in Winterland. I came back in 80 and went to all the other venues until 89, always hoping for that next fix.
